About Me

I'm Amelia. I am 20 years and have 5 younger brothers. I'm originally from the States, but have lived in Brazil for almost half of my life. I also lived in the Philippines and Mexico for a few months. I currently work with Nations2Nations America Latina, a ministry of YWAM international. It is a movement to restore the identity, dignity and destiny of the nations! I also work part-time at Project Mão Amiga (Friendly Hand). It is a community development center. I teach English and disciple around 30 teenagers from the community.

I grew up in Brazil on the mission field. My family moved there when I was 11. I've always been involved in children's ministry since my parents first joined Youth With A Mission in 2002. I  completed my DTS (Discipleship Training School) with YWAM San Diego/Baja in Tijuana, Mexico in 2010.

Since then I have been back on the mission field full-time, working with children and teens at risk, teaching and preaching in churches, leading youth camps, working with Radical Obedience missionary training schools, working in English for Missions schools and much more! I have also traveled around Central America twice in the past year, doing missions and training Christians there.

I absolutely LOVE everything about kids: playing with them, working with them... I love 'em! But I love teenagers too! Being a teen, you go through a lot of tough stuff. The world puts so much pressure on you about who you should be, how you should act, what you should look like. You're a teen and all you want to do is fit in and be accepted by society. A lot of teens do stupid stuff so they can be accepted when they already are accepted, by Jesus! So, I love working with teens as well and showing them that they have worth and they deserve better than what the world has to offer!

I believe God has called me to work with children and, especially, teens at risk in Latin America. I believe He has called me to invest in their lives, to show them their value and restore their dignity, to assist them in discovering their identity, calling and purpose in Christ and to call them forth to their destiny! Over the years, I would like to get more training so that I can be better equipped to work with these kids and their families around the world.
